The Arkansas Boathouse Club offers two rowing courses for those interested in learning how to row.  The first course is a weekend class called Discover rowing and is intended for novice or non-rowers.  Discover rowing class must be completed to use club equipment as a member.  The second class is called Learn to Row and it is intended for those that have completed the Discover Rowing class.  Learn to Row is a more in depth course which allows for more coaching time on the water.

To take a clinic, you need to have your swim test completed. The swimming proficiency test and other forms may be found on our 'Membership Info' page. Any certified lifeguard can sign off for you. Please bring your own form to be signed and a life vest to wear during your proficiency demonstration. ( Please bring swim test form to first day of Learn to Row)  

Discover Rowing:

Discover Rowing is an introduction to sweep rowing for adults in 4 person or 8 person boats and is required before a new member may use club equipment. This class should be thought of as a chance to discover rowing. The class will cover the basics of rowing while keeping it fun and moving.

Dates:

            June 11, 12, 13 (Rain dates are June 18, 19, 20)

            July 9, 10, 11 (Rain dates are July 16, 17, 18)

            August 13, 14, 15 (Rain dates are August 20, 21, 22)

              (Fri/Sat/Sun: Fri 6-8 p.m.; Sat 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Sun 8 a.m. –12 p.m.)

Learn to Row:

The Learn to Row course is designed to be taken after completion of the Discover Rowing Class. The Learn to Row class will teach the student the finer points of rowing, and build on the rowing stroke the student learned in Discover Rowing. The class will last 90 minutes per session and meet once a week for 6 weeks. About 45-60 minutes of coaching on the water is provided per session.  Discover Rowing is a prerequisite course for Learn to Row.
