In May, 2005, Joel Taylor of Little Rock, AR, contacted the Mayors of Little Rock, North Little Rock and Maumelle to ask their help in re-establishing rowing in the Central Arkansas area. A launch committee was formed in August of 2005 and a movement to re-establish rowing on the Arkansas River was launched.
